The statistical data we collected from 77 public perfume formulas suggests that the mean dose for lemon oil is 2.2%. The typical lower limit is 1.0%, and the usual higher limit is 5.4%. The highest amount of lemon oil we encountered in any single formula is 23%, and the lowest was 0.10%.
Please note that according to the IFRA Standard Category 4, the level of lemon oil should not exceed 2.0% of the final product. Assuming that you will be using your formula for an alcoholic perfume at a 10% dilution, this means you should only use lemon oil at 20% or less of the formula.
